Storia

La prima menzione della città risale al mwig1034, sotto il nome di mwiwAmmenberg. Divenne un importante centro di traffici nel mwjaMedioevo, esportando soprattutto mwjqferro grezzo e lavorato. Nel mwjg1269, assieme a mwjwBamberga, cadde sotto il controllo della dinastia mwkaWittelsbach, che governava la Baviera.
